What is The performance journey?
Mind-body; body-mind. In sport, both are essential. My background & interest lies in seeking ways that the mind can be harnessed to elevate the physical.
As I’ve come to learn, one’s journey through sport is not linear. There are setbacks, obstacles, frustrations, joys, and successes.
Given that truth, it would then make sense to determine ways to:
A) Discover & Implement practical strategies to train the mind.
B) Utilize setbacks, obstacles, & successes as opportunities for learning to catalyze long-term, sustained progression.
The Performance Journey is 3 parts: Prepare, Perform, Progress. This evolved from my graduate school sport psychology research. I had the good fortune of learning from ten of the world’s top endurance athletes. Physiology and genetics aside, I learned (and continue to) that their mental skills are something that every athlete at every level can develop.
There are no secrets. Training the mind is not dissimilar from training the body: awareness drives intention, followed by practice, refinement, practice, and creativity, utility, recovery, and refinement.
